Our Commitment to the Community
The NYA is not just for kids. Our programs are open to men, women and children of all ages.
We are headquartered in an 86,000-square-foot, multi-use indoor sports complex on the Fairfield Hills Campus in Newtown, Connecticut. Opened to the public in November, 2008, the NYA building comprises two wings: a Field House with 1/9-mile track and three courts and an Indoor Turf, both of which can be used year-round, as well as an 8,000 square-foot, fully equipped Fitness Center on our second floor.
We offer indoor soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, football, volleyball, tennis, track and more.
Our NYAkids offers fun daytime programming designed to help young children develop an appreciation for fitness and the foundation for training in any sport. An NYA Fitness Center membership provides families access to state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, free weights, personal training and custom programs. A visit to the indoor Sports Complex isn’t complete without a stop at our Sideline Café, which offers a tempting menu—from sandwiches and wraps to soups and protein shakes—whenever the building is open. An outdoor patio with a 40-foot lighted fountain is a great place to eat your meal, relax or play a round or two of Bocce.

We're Green!
The project has been submitted for LEED certification, the national benchmark for sustainable building and development practices and has recieved the SILVERn Certification - The only sports building in New England to have this honor.
By recycling materials from an existing structure for fill, much of the construction waste was diverted from landfills. One-third of the building’s electricity should be supplied by solar power panels on the south facing roof of the building, which was made possible by a generous grant from the CT Clean Energy Fund.
High R-Value insulation has been used for the exterior walls & roof. Low-VOC emitting materials, including paints, carpets and adhesives were used in construction. Automatic sinks, low flush toilets and waterless urinals reduce water consumption. Most of the furniture has been manufactured from recycling materials.
The NYA building is the first step toward a revitalization of the Fairfield Hills Campus and has great Town and Community support. This areal shot was taken during construction June 2008. The building on the top center of the picture is the newly renovated Town Hall.
